A window appears.

Our first theme is the story of the God, Ganesh. Ganesh was gifted his elephant head after his father sliced his human head off. The severing, the wound, becomes the gift he shares with the world.

This is the path of the yogi, to transmute obstacles into gifts. The obstacle is usually something that makes us uncomfortable enough that we become inspired to grow & transform. This is why Ganesh isn't known only as the remover of obstacles, he is also the one that gives the obstacle. Why would he do this? The story reminds us that the obstacle becomes an invitation for our expansion and transformation.

I'll share more of Ganesh's story next week. For now, a poem that could be interpreted with Ganesh as the rock.

Rock transforms.

A kiss of sunlight.

Blood of the earth.

New shapes form through the grace of time.

A current of water finds source.

Transmute.

Water becomes varnish in the alchemy of sunlight and temperature.

The river rages through the canyon.

Iron, blood of the earth, reflects in the walls of red rock.

Rust away.

Rust. Iron to flakes, the color of fire.

Transmute.

The now. This moment. We don’t wait for the arch to collapse. We enjoy the beauty it shares today.

When we’re not waiting, a window appears.

Invitation To Connect

Yoga, Trauma & Recovery: The Power to use Obstacles for Growth

Starting Sept 11th w/Angela Houghton and Trista Winder

Monday 5:30-7pm

Trista & Angela invite you to your practice: we'll use the body as a tool to explore and connect to your inner world. You are welcome if you’ve never practiced before. You are welcome if you have been practicing for years. This offering is an opportunity to play with yoga in a heart-centered practice where we will guide you through moving your body, connecting to your breath, and being still with intention.

On this journey, we'll use yogic philosophy and stories alongside movement and meditation. The stories can invite humor and curiosity as we explore the modern human experience with grace. Within this spiritual container, we'll explore trauma & the undigested hurts. The invitation is in how we create a personal practice that speaks to the needs of our soul. Recovery, Yoga, Connection: this is a practice that invites the practitioner to wholeness, one breath at a time.
